California Guard Card Training

The California Guard Card is the license that is needed in order to become a security guard in the State of California. This article will cover California Guard Card Training and where to obtain your Guard Card.

There are many training steps required in order to get your Guard Card. You must do training prior to being hired as a security guard and you will need more California Guard Card Training once you have actually been hired. Here is a simple sequence that is required:

8 Hours Prior To Being Hired and Passing Exam

16 Hours Within 30 Days Of Being Hired

16 Hours Additional Within 6 Months of Working

California Guard Card Training Steps

Guard Card Step1

Completion of the 8 Hours Power Of Arrest Course and the Passing of the Exam.

Guard Card Step 2

Submission of a Security Guard Card Application with the Security Guard On-Line Licensing Pilot Program. You must submit your application on-line.

Guard Card Step 3

Submission of your fingerprints using LiveScan. Download the LiveScan forms from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services website. You can only use the forms provided by the website or directly from the Bureau. The Bureaus LiveScan forms have the proper coding which will give you the right clearance.

Guard Card Step 4

Once your Guard Card Application and your LiveScan forms have been submitted and cleared you’ll have your information for your license available on the Bureaus website.

After everything has been cleared you should be able to get a printout of your registration that you can use until you receive your physical registration.

Guard Card Step 5

When you are working as a Security Guard in California you must always carry 2 things on you:

Your currently valid Security Guard Card or the print out from the Bureaus website.

A government valid photo identification.

Once hired and working your employer should help you find resources to complete your extra 32 Hours of Security Guard Training required to complete your California Guard Card Training.
